Welcome to TheAvGeeks.com

We’re pleased you’ve joined our celebration of the Queen of the Skies!

When we were preparing to launch the site, it seemed only appropriate that it be live in time to honor a very significant date, the 50thanniversary of the Boeing 747.

On the site, you’ll find a special package of content dedicated to this magnificent and history-making airplane.

A highlight of the package is our feature story “Reports of My Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated,” written by someone who has made a career of flying this beautiful bird. It charts the history-making life of the Boeing 747, from its first flight to today.

The package includes many other 747-focused pieces, including Video: The Jumbo Jet, A Video Visit, The World’s Biggest Firetruck, and Video: Scott and Steve Visit LAX. We hope you will explore them all.

We’ve also included a free gift for you, our fellow AvGeeks. To celebrate the 747, we are pleased to partner with Alex McDiarmid to provide you with a special, downloadable print.

We hope you’ll enjoy our new site and community. In the coming days and weeks, we’ll be bringing you lots more content, focused not just on Commercial Aviation, but also on Space, Defense, and Business and General Aviation. Our goal is to create a forum for discussion of all things aviation, and we encourage you to contribute. We’d love to get your feedback on what we’ve done so far and hear what kind of content you’d like to see in the future.

Thanks for flying with us!

I truly believe that airplanes changed our way of life – more than any other inventions have done. Flying on ‘747’ was a dream for us. I still get excited about flying!

I’ve been following on Twitter and really enjoy these reads and insights into aviation. Although I’ve flown to many parts of the world, I’m yet to fly on the 747 or A380, hopefully someday. Keep up the good work!

Great website, love the stories on the 747. From early childhood flying on the top floor of the 747 was my dream. Took a long time to fulfill, but eventually on a flight from Bangkok to Phuket I was able to make that happen!

I’ve always loved the 747! It is one of the greats for sure. I’ve never flown on a A380, but have flown Transatlantic and Transpacific on the queen and would do it again in a heartbeat.

My personal feeling’s that the 747 ain’t going anywhere and it won’t be long before we have perhaps some sort of modified version of it. It’s way too good to go

I became a pilot dreaming of flying a 747. The closest I’ve come is flying jump seat on two different occasions. The queen will always be my dream.
